Fly Fishing Survival Kit: Essential Items Needed On The Water

While fishing this past week I found that there are always certain items that I make sure I have before I hit the water. They are not the obvious things like flies, leader, tippet, sinkers and spare spools. These items are easily over looked and could save you time while on the water. Before I leave my car I make sure that I have the fallowing; Water, can never drink enough. Especially on hot days that requires a lot of walking. Stay hydrated. Food, just light snacks that are easy to pack and will keep your stomach quiet. I like to bring granola bars or trail mix.
Rain Coat, If I am not already wearing one I will fold it up and stick it in my pack, you never can rely on the weather. Sun screen/chap stick, the glare off the water can be vicious apply some protectant to your skin so your face isn’t glowing after dark. Camera, you never know when you will land your best fish. Be ready to document your beauty for proof. Then your friends can’t call you a liar. Last but not least toilet paper, nature calls at the wrong time occasionally so be prepared for those awkward moments. These are the tings in my pack what are in yours?
