If you fish on the Lake Erie tributaries, what do you use and fnd very productive? I fish in Erie quite a bit and would love to learn more about fly fishing for Steelhead. So if you have any tricks or tips, let me know. Thanks

I have never fished that area for steelhead but my friend jason-c has and has done well using glo-bug patterns. Fishing them the same way you would a nymph. Bouncing bottom. I have also heard that alot of tiny creeks hold big fish down that way. Let us know how you do.

Hey I live in erie pa, and fish there a couple days every week. I basically only high stick nymphy but i use nymphs and egg patterns. I mostly use a two fly rig also. either 2 eggs, 2 nymphs or a combo. Joey got that right....like 4-5 ft wide creeks with 10-12 lb steelhead. its wild! and they are incredible hard to catch in small water like that. alot of guy around here use 5 and 6 wt rods and they work great! they magnify the fight because the fish dont have a couple football feilds to run around in. let me know if there's anything specific you want to know and i'll try and help you out.

Mike

i fish erie tribs often afew really good flies to have are 1.sucker spawn eggs[not glo bugs] 2. soft hackles[ pink white orange with grizzly hackle 12"s 14"s] 3. crystal buggers in higher water.also try tying soft hackle pheasant tales they are my "go to fly". As far as the water try to walk away from the main pools to find fish. Try the small pockets that are cut into the shale when the water is green. there are some really nice small creeks that can be full of fish one day and empty the next move around until you find em! Will be up in march maybe see you there. Good luck
