Fly Fishing Larger Rivers: Finding Fish In Big Water
Posted by bo on Tuesday, March 20 @ 04:30:49 PDT
I fish the Salmon River alot through out the year but still find myself being intimidated fishing the larger sections of the river. I learned how to fly fish on smaller streams so I tend to fish the smaller sections of the river (ellis cove, school house etc). I know that I am missing out, is there a technique I can use to break up the larger sections of the river so they are not so overwhelming ?

I like to try and break the larger areas into smaller areas and fish those areas little by little. I don't spend much time in one spot and bounce around quite a bit. As always look for slicks and seam after some quicker moving water. Don't rule out fishing close to the banks before you get into the water either. Alot of times fish will hold close to shore, especially in higher water. Good luck.
