Fly Line: How To Maximize Your Line Life
Posted by fliesandfinseast on Friday, May 11 @ 07:08:28 PDT
My floating line on my 5wt is begining to sink a bit and was wondering if it is time for new line. I have had for about a year and have cleaned it once but it seema as though it should last longer than that? For a short term fix I have been adding floatant to the last 5 feet of my line to keep it afloat (it works very well). Any advice on how to increase fly line life?

The only thing that helps me extend the life of the fly line has been to wipe it down after use and thats about it. Luckily, fly line isin't that expensive anymore so a replacement shouldn't cost that much. Also, I have heard to never store your fly line in direct sunlight because it degrades it quicker. |
