Fly Fishing New Hampshire: Equipment and Flies For Beginners
Posted by garylovesgolf on Thursday, July 19 @ 16:53:16 PDT
I am new to fly fishing and will be purchasing equipment this week. Given the time of year I am looking for suggestions in fly choices. I will be primarily fishing small streams and stocked pond. Thanks for the help.

Fly Fishing New Hampshire: Equipment and Flies For Beginners by jeremy on Friday, July 20 @ 12:40:36 PDT http://www.ineedasimplesolution.com | | can't go wrong with an olive conehead wooly bugger ... if your just starting out ... it will keep things fun and very productive ... keep in mind you won't have to fish super light leader/tippet .. you could even just run straight 3x ... if in streams fish it by starting upstream and walking downstream ... casting into little pockets and pools and runs ... much like you would with a spin rod ... you'll have fun .. and it will get your confidence up .. and you will catch fish ... and not worry too much about the technicalities of your casting and all that stuff .. and then, one day you will say "wow, i can cast pretty good" ... and then move on to other styles and tactics ... have fun! but, ya can't go wrong with an olive cone head wooly bugger .. get a few of them:) |

Fly Fishing New Hampshire: Equipment and Flies For Beginners by mtnzone on Tuesday, July 24 @ 17:01:11 PDT | | I agree try wooly buggers to start and also give soft hackles a try as well swinging your flies....such as red fox squirrels in size 12... cast directly across stream of part way down allow you line to pull you fly across the current.. remember your not fishing for fish across from you but 3/4's down stream to all the way down stream. so plan on where your fly will be in that zone........... and plan accordingly. easy technique and very effective.. this technique can be used with all streamers as well..... the fish lean into their strike so they practically hook themselves. oh by the way use this technique on rivers doesnt work to well on the ponds ..good luck and remember to have some fun even if it is frustrating at first.... a bad day on the river is better than sitting in an office... |
