Mending: Get A Better Drift
Posted by fliesandfinseast on Wednesday, December 12 @ 11:13:56 PST
The mend is such a major part of line control and can mean the difference between a five fish day and a ten fish day. I use a technique that allows me to get a good mend without moving the fly or indicator. I call it the mini roll cast. After casting my fly up stream and it begins to drift, I pick the tip of my rod up and "snap" my rist to make a little roll cast. All that should move if done correctly is the fly line. Once you get this technique down you'll find it maximizes your drift without any drag. Give it a shot.
